With over a quarter of a million new users every month, Twitter.com is the fastest-growing social networking phenomenon on the Internet today. Twitter is beginning to have a huge impact on the way that people network and do business on the Internet. Twitter even had an impact on the recent American presidential election when Barack Obama became the most followed person on the site.

Twitter describes itself as a service to keep people connected "through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: what are you doing?" Messages, which are referred to as "tweets", must also be brief, consisting of a maximum of 140 characters only. Oh, and the messages you send, do not have to talk about what you are doing - you can say pretty much what you like or crosses your mind!

Most of the messages that people send can be viewed by anybody who visits their page on the Twitter website, and they can be received on the Twitter user page of anybody who chooses to follow that person.

It is also possible to send messages to individual Twitter users both publicly and privately. In the case of private messages, they can only be sent to people who are following you on Twitter.

So how is this useful for Internet marketers? Well, for one thing, the Twitter social networking service can be used quickly and efficiently to build up an extensive network of contacts who can be kept updated about your business activities. Post information that you think people may find useful, keep people entertained with your insights, offer tips that will help them and link out to other websites or articles that you find interesting. Update people whenever you post a message to your blog or an article on your website - linking back to your own stuff is perfectly acceptable provided that it is part of a larger mix of things that you do with Twitter. Be judicious in the number of self promoting links you send out otherwise your tweets will be seen as spam and you will lose most of your following.

Signing up for a twitter account is very easy. Simply head over to Twitter.com, click on the "Get Started - Join!" button, fill-in the brief online form, click the "Create my account" button and you're good to go and can start tweaking to your heart"s content.

If you want people to read your messages you need to go and find them and start building your network by "following" other Twitter users. Twitter offers you several quick and easy methods of doing that. By clicking the Find People button you can run searches for people you know who may already have a twitter account. When you find somebody who you would like to follow, simply click on their name or avatar and click the "Follow" button that you will see on the next page.

Another way to search for contacts is to target keywords into the search field at the top of the twitter page. Anybody who has included that word in a recent message will be pulled up by the search engine and you can choose which of those people you would like to follow.

Many of the people who you choose to follow will reciprocate and start following you, so, to put it simply, the more people that you follow, the bigger your network is likely to grow. Note however that you can only add 200 new followers to your network each day. Also if you want to build a following of more than 2000 people you are going to have to follow more than 2000 people. Provided you observe those two rules (and you don't have any choice), you can build up a huge following with Twitter social networking.

Get more followers at Twitter

Would you like to get 1000's of legitimate Twitter followers on autopilot?

If the answer to the above question is YES, then continue reading.

This method is extremely easy and you don't have to spam or do that much work at all. You just sign up below and a short message will be tweeted in your account. You will also get a personal referral page you can tell your friends about.

If you for example get just five people to sign up for this too you'll have a pretty good start because if they also get five people each to sign up you will get 30 followers (your first 5 and their 5 followers).

When these people refer others via their own referral pages you will get new followers too, and the best part is that you've only referred five people but are getting fresh followers all the time.

A short example

If you refer 5 people and they all refer 5 people each your number of followers could increase like this:

Level Number of followers You 5 Level 1 25 Level 2 125 Level 3 625 Level 4 3,125 Level 5 15,625 Grand total: 19,530

All you did in the above example was referring 5 people!

Even if you're not getting the same results as in the above example you would get more followers, so sign up today. You don't have anything to lose and it's completely free.

Real-life example

Just have a look at the number of followers we've received since we started using this method:

Explosion of followers after started using this method

This is not just all since we're getting more and more followers every day. Since we're actively promoting this method all the time we have referred more than just 5 people on the first level, which means we will see much better results on level 5 than the example numbers in the above table.

Twitter is an amazing new service.Twitter allows you to send in micro blogs. Blogs of 140 characters max.. It is currently a totally free service.. To get an account, you simply go to Twitter and register your name..The real value of Twitter is once you get a following.

As many of you are aware, there is a new Internet 'tool' that is gaining a lot of publicity.I am referring to Twitter There are now many famous celebrities using Twitter including Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross and there are many big brands that have also started to use the service, including Dell

So the question that you need to ask yourself, is why are these people starting to use Twitter.. What is the Business Angle

Last week, an extraordinary event happened, Google for the first time, that I can ever remember had a major issue with the search results that it was displaying. Every search result that was displayed had the warning ' this site may harm your computer' attached to it..This even occured with Google's own website.

In minutes of this happening, Twitter was going wild, thousands of messages were going round the globe. At the very time that this was happening, I took a screen shot.. and posted it up on the internet, and Twittered about that. Within a few minutes, I had received 388 views, had got my Tweet retweeted many times, and had received many new followers. I had also got my name out to many new people.. People that had never heard of me

At the same time, Alan Stevens the Media Coach was monitoring the situation very closely..Part of what Alan does is to advise Companies on their media strategy, when a crisis develops. After the event, he wrote a blog on the Google crisis.
Now, I dont know for sure, but I would expect that the traffic to Alan's blog for this article was very much higher than usual.. Alan used Twitter excellently, by taking part in the twittering that was going on regarding the crisis, offering his views and opinions, and then writing a blog to supplement it..What also happened was that others, including myself, were suggesting that Google should be turning to him for advice, in this sense, Alan had leveraged his network. This is one of the most powerful aspects of Twitter.

So How Else Can you Use Twitter for Business

Imagine that you are a lawer, you join Twitter. Over time, you develop a following, by offering advice, guidance, and engaging with the community, you direct people to your blog, which is all about a legal issues. on your blog there is a newsletter that people can sign up to.You comment on other peoples views and tweets.. You are consistantly demostrating your knowledge, credibilty, and expertise. Then because of the good tips and advice you are sharing, others start to re tweet your tweets.. Now you are reaching a far wider audience.. so from 1 single tweet, you are accessing the many..

Imagine that you are a hairdresser, you join Twitter. Over time you develop a following by offering tips, guidance, help on hair related issues. You engage with the community on such topics, always offering solutions to people's bad hair days... Again driving people to your website or blog site, where you encourage them to sign up for your regular newletter. You can also decide that to all of your followers, you are going to offer a special discount on hair products..Now instead of this just going to your following, your network, tweet about this, to their follwing, again you have a far wider reach.

Imagine that you are a Tile centre.. How could you use Twitter.. Easy.. Build up a following, offering advice on tiling, types of tiles, how to tile guides, top tips on tiling etc... Again driving people to your website. Engaging with people that are tweeting about moving, about redecorating etc... You can even search for people in your location, and engage specifically with local people... Then you can offer special prices for tiles to those again that are following you....

These are just 3 examples, there are many many more. The key to great success on Twitter is to understand that although there is a social angle to it, it is an amazing business tool. Not the only business tool, but certainly to be used in conjuntion with other marketing activites. It will not happen overnight. You do need to spend time building up your following, engaging with the community, but the real key is when you leverage the followers that you have got. That is when Twitter becomes very exciting.

Also remember that Twitter is a free service Yes I know that your time is not free, so this does need to be factored in, but there are many tools that will help you to manage your time more effectively.

Hope this Helps you may continue the discussion on the Twitter Group on Bloghology Social

Twitter Resources and Links

Twitter Search Engines:
There are a number of Twitter search engines out there and they are a great way to find people that are interested in the same topics as you. You can either search for your favorite bloggers, or search for the top keywords around your niche and subscribe to all those people. Keeping this up will encourage them to follow you back.

Search.Twitter.com

The original search provided by Twitter lets you search for people and topics easily. If you click on the advanced search button you’ll get a nice set of search features that rival Google’s advanced search. You not only search by name and topic, but you can also search by location, date, language and if the tweet includes a hyperlink.

TwitterTroll.com

A real time Twitter search engine that indexes popular people and topics and is all about finding like minded people. As of today there are only 58706 Twitter users indexed in the search engine, and the crawl rate has been set to low a lot lately. I imagine this app is starting to take its toll on the server.

Twellow.com

Not only a Twitter search engine, but it is also a directory for people broken down by category. It is a web directory for Twitter users and you can find more Twitter directories like this. This site is great for finding like minded people in your niche or business.

Twidentify.com

This is a search engine for Twitter users that get re-tweeted the most. This is great for finding like minded people because you can see others discussion topics you’re into, and that includes their opinions.

Twithority.com

Another authority based Twitter search engine for finding the most popular people on the site. The site kind of makes a mini magazine based on the content on Twitter and popular user’s tweets get displayed on the main page. Twithority also tracks the hottest trends based on searches so you can get an idea of what to blog about, or retweet.

Twitter Alerts:
Twitter alerts are a great way of keeping up on topics being tweeted and give you a chance to find more people in your niche. They act the same way as google alerts which are great for the same reason in the blogosphere. There have been a few sites for this popping up lately so it must be catching on.

Twilert.com is an easy interface to get alerts for a topic when it hits the tweet street. Just put in your Twitter details and keywords to watch and you’ll get updated via email when someone talks about a topic you’ve requested to watch.

TwitterAlerts.com

A very simple way to keep track of your keywords which has been around the longest. All you need to give them is the email to send the alerts to, your username and password.

Twitter Forums:
Twitter forums have been popping up all over the place and it is a great way to not only interact with other Twitter users, but it’s a great way to show off your account and attract new readers.

TwitTown.com

The largest forum for all your Twitter addicts out there and only has a few active posts going on. This site used to be hosted under the domain Twitterforums.com but decided to move for some reason. There are only a couple hundred users.

Twitplace.com

This place has only 13 members and is decently new so I don’t know what to say as of yet. Since Twitter is pretty much a large unorganized chat forum it must be hard to get something like this going.

Tweetbars.com

This is not a forum but fits under the topic. TweetBars lets you easily implement your tweets into your Email, Website and in your forum signature. It is basically Twitter meets Forum Signatures as they’ve coined it already on their website.

Twitter Directories:
I have noticed a few Twitter user directories popping up and they are getting quite populated already. I imagine we’ll see…

Twitdir.com

Is the premier Twitter directory and unfortunately was down for maintenance at the time of writing. It features a directory broken down by interest so it makes finding Twitter users really easy. Be sure to add yourself into the mix and approval normally takes 1-5 days.

Twellow.com

Already mentioned under Twitter search engines, but it is also a directory for users. You can submit your Twitter account and once it is loaded up you can confirm the listing by entering in your password. Another bonus is that the URL you have listed in your Twitter profile gets listed here as well.

TwitterPassion.com

Another less SEO friendly Twitter user and topic directory that has a good amount of people listed, including celebrities. You can submit your link and although it is not auto approved, should only takes a few days to get listed in the directory.

JustTweetIt.com

One of the newer Twitter directories on the block and has a huge user base already. I’ve added myself to the SEO/Internet Marketing category and I really like how the listings are displayed. Submission was auto approved and the link to your Twitter account is do-follow, but any links you put in your description are no follow.

New Twitter sites

Tweetwasters.

This site collects some of the information that is available on your twitter page, and then calculates how much time you’ve wasted on twitter. I would personally not call that time “wasted” but hey, what’s in a name.

The creators of the site, see the uselessness of it, and mock it, in the footer.

"This site is completely useless and was created by @itcn, designed by @reese and based on a concept by @sugarrae she thought of during a lecture aimed @streko."
